Sugarland Board Game Printable Freebie!

Games are kinda my "thing." In third grade, I created a board game for our science fair and won. The teacher next-door was so impressed that she purchased it and still uses it in her third grade classroom. It's no wonder that games are so fun for me; however, what I've noticed is that although times change, kids are not as different as we may think they are. Children are super engaged when it comes to games. It's a great way to have children's engagement levels go up and learning rise, while maintaining an element of fun.

Use this Sugarland Board Game printable to engage your kiddos over the summer! I've included some kindergarten-friendly recording sheets, but you can easily create your own to suit your own needs. The boardgame is K-6 appropriate; however, my sister, who's 26 wants to play, too! So, I won't limit the board game to primary students :)

Carnival Themed Bulletin Board Printable Freebie

Use the carnival-themed bulletin board printable to decorate your classroom. I used it outside my door, and put all the kiddo's names on the individual snack-food characters. It was a huge hit and lasted all year long.

Characters come in black and white and color. I glued googly eyes on the characters and popsicle sticks after printing the characters on colored copy-paper.

First Day of School Journal Freebie

Hello, All!

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm already starting to think about next year. After my first year in kindergarten, knowing what their little bodies are capable of, I know there's a lot I want to change. Kindergarteners are capable of sooo much. With the new rigor of the common core state standards, they rose to the occasion. Nearly 82% of my kids met their reading growth goal for our last trimester. This is huge! One of the changes I made to help with this growth for the end of the year was their writing journal. They write whatever is on their mind everyday as an entry task; they've worked and built up to this, so they are more than capable.

In the fall, handing a students crayons and paper - well, you might end up with a book full of scribbles. You're lucky if you get a name. So, I created this Common Core State Standard aligned Journal to help provide differentiation, scaffolding and support for all students. This year, I had a majority of the English Language Learners, who started the year with little English. I made it so I can pick and choose which paper would work well for which student. I am going to print day-by-day and bind them at the end of the month. This is a great way to track student learning and show growth with the addition of the two rubrics. One rubric is for writing and the other for coloring a picture, so you can add and teach accordingly.

Easter Bunny Kid Craft Printable

Hello, All!

I've created this Easter Bunny Kid Craft Printable, because, well, I plum forgot Easter was this Sunday and I needed to create something to accompany our Knuffle Bunny mentor-text read aloud this week. It's simple and a way for us to practice rhyming words with "hop." There's one oddball rhyming word in there as well that doesn't follow the same "op," spelling pattern, but does rhyme. I figured this would be a great discussion.
